Fragment #4 (Oct 13, 1998).

...an obligatory "I've been dumped" poem. Its just too cliche.

Da Boot

SLAM !!! (slam...slam...slam.......)

"Oh! That's gotta hurt."

That sound echos
with chin-jutted, stiff backed reverberations
seals and penquins shuffle in
amoung the cold, empty boxes and shriveling ficus
as drywall tape peals off the transforming walls.

"Hmmmm. Curious. Ice really is transparent blue."

Packing, rearranging memories
to the sound of a stepping french salsa quartet
?
dividing up mixed bookshelves and confused, shivering cats
?

I dreamed about you again this morning.
  Well, it wasn't really you
  just someone kinda like you

Some icon. Some shiny, polished part of you
  those perfect pieces
that only live in the mirage of sleep.

Not the you that said "no"
   when I offered forever
or the you that always doubted.

I know this you doesn't really exist

This you never has
  this you exists
only in desire, lust or loneliness

Remembered when someone has said "no"
  because I couldn't offer forever
and I spent too much time doubting

Its no longer enough to wish.
  To remember.
  To recreate.
now its enough to see the sun shine through a pine bough
or smell fresh juniper berries on a foggy hill side
to walk a whole day just to see a rock or stream.
