To Grandaddy Cecil

A beacon
   from a distant shoreline
to a silly sailor of the seas
   a merry message of warmth,
   safety, home.

   a merry message
      to a foolish heart
to one filled with the wanderlust
      to one safely at home

   a merry message
if the stoney shores are smashing
if the callous wind is crashing
if there is no safety except home

through both the calm and calamity
   the wayward wanderer
   remembers a merry message
   a beacon
      from home
